Tele Talk - Green Wing

I'm not someone who sits in front of the TV all night and watched everything. I have certain shows that I totally obsess over, but rather than whinging "Oh there's nothing on even with all these channels.." I hit the DVDs!

However, there are a few big favourites for me, so thought I'd do a bit of a TV blog for a bit. My current favourite UK show is Green Wing, a surreal comedy on C4, while of the US shows, it's 24 that is the one I await most eagerly.

Green Wing stars my new favourite actress Tamsin Greig. (I've been catching up with some of her previous work on Black Books and Love Soup too. Both very enjoyable) However, Green Wing has an outstanding ensemble of totally insane characters in completely bizzare situations.

We're up to episode 5 of the second series and it was another one where Caroline snogs everyone! OK, not everyone, but three people in one episode is pretty good going. Green Wing frequently delve into homo-erotic attractions - Statham and Boycie are constantly needling, Guy and Mac have a bit of a bond, and women often seem to kiss Caroline! We also had Joanna adjusting Sue's clay encrusted boobs this week!!
A new addition to series 2 of Green Wing is the very funny Sally Phillips as Mac's ex, Holly. I am just hoping she doesn't shift the focus of the show too much away from the other characters we know and love. Not sure if she is a permenant addition or not. However, her revelation of a son for Mac, just as he and Caroline were about to get it on means trouble. And seeing as Caroline was last seen snogging Guy after a game of Poker, the relationship drama/comedy will continue.

I don't find Mac (Julian Rhind-Tutt) particularly attractive - I've always thought him very smug and smarmy in other roles I've seen him in. However, Steven Mangan as Guy is a real contradiction too! I love how appalling he is! I dread to think how obnoxious he will be if Caroline really does sleep with him! Eek!

Only 3 more episodes I think in this series of Green Wing...I'm missing it already!
