I miss the early days of the internet..!

Remember in the 1990s/2000s when so much stuff on the internet was free? My web hosting company just sent me an email that the fees for my xenaville website are going up to £8.50 a month (and I think there is VAT on that too, so probably closer to £10). That's getting pricey for what is a site that is more of a museum piece these days.

It was my first real website after those early geocities days and the way I made so many good friends around the world. Our UK Xenafests are still going, but I must admit I don't think I've watched any Xena:Warrior Princess in year. However, I don't want to lost the site. Maybe I'll try and find cheaper web hosting or bite the bullet and pay up or decide whether to close the doors on xenaville.com after over 15 years...

A test of how long you've been online. Do you know what these are:
  • alt.tv.xena (or any other tv newsgroups - or even a newsgroup!)
  • geocities
  • netscape
  • flame wars and trolls
  • AIM
  • ICQ
  • guestbooks
Amazing how I can't imagine life without the internet now, whereas 20 years ago hardly anyone even had computers at home.
